UKING cold spark machines are floor-standing spark fountains for wedding first dances, stage entrances, award walk-ons and club moments. The collection has four machines, from ZQ16059 500W mini to ZQ16050 800W, plus refill powder, so you can order the machine and the consumable together. Each machine heats titanium-alloy granules and throws a fountain of sparks without gunpowder or an open flame. If the effect is new to you, our guide to how cold spark machines work covers setup, venue rules and safety before you buy.

Choosing a cold spark machine

The four machines differ mainly in heating power, size and control options. Match the model to the room, then check the manual for spark height, run time and safety distance on that model.

  • ZQ16059 500W mini machine: the compact choice for smaller rooms, home parties and mobile DJs who want one machine that is easy to carry.
  • ZQ16053 700W model: the middle step between the mini machine and the 800W model.
  • ZQ16050 800W cold spark machine: the highest heating power in the range, with DMX512, wireless remote and master-slave control, in black or white housing.
  • ZQ16030 spark machine: see the product page for its heating method, protection features and height settings.
  • Cold spark refill powder: composite titanium powder made for these machines. Order spare powder for long events.

Before you order, check three things. First, the room: ceiling height, drapes and décor near the machine, and whether the venue allows spark effects. Second, control: a wireless remote is enough for one operator firing on cue, DMX512 lets a lighting console trigger sparks with the rest of the show, and master-slave fires a pair together without a console. Third, power: make sure the machine's voltage rating matches your local power supply before plugging in.

FAQs

A cold spark machine is a stage effect device. Unlike traditional pyrotechnics that use gunpowder or explosives, it produces a spark fountain by heating composite titanium powder.

  • Lower temperature, not zero risk: Cold spark machines produce no open flame, and the sparks are much cooler than traditional pyrotechnics. That is why many indoor weddings, clubs and stages use them where the venue approves. The sparks are still hot metal particles, so keep fabrics and décor clear.
  • Low smoke: It produces minimal smoke during operation and no gunpowder smell.

They carry far less risk than traditional pyrotechnics when used as the manual describes, but the sparks can burn skin and scorch fabric at close range.

  • Keep your distance: Do not touch the outlet or the fountain. Keep guests, drapes, paper and décor outside the safety distance given in the product manual, and never aim the fountain at people.
  • Protection features: Protection features vary by model. Check each product page and manual for what that model includes, such as tip-over or overheat protection.
  • Venue rules: Some venues and local authorities require approval for spark effects. Check venue and local rules before you book the effect.

Preheat takes a few minutes, and height is set from the controller on models that support it.

  • Preheating: Product pages for ZQ16050 and ZQ16059 list about 4 minutes of preheating. Switch the machines on well before the cue.
  • Adjustable height: Height settings vary by model, so see the product page. The actual fountain height depends on the model, the setting and the powder, so check the product manual and test in the venue before the event, especially under low ceilings.

The machines offer several control methods, so one person without a lighting console can still run them:

  • Wireless remote: ZQ16050 and ZQ16059 ship with a 433MHz wireless remote to start and stop the sparks. Remote range differs by model, so check the product page.
  • DMX512 control: The machines support the standard DMX512 protocol (for example, 3 channels on ZQ16050). Connect them to a console to fire sparks on cue with the lighting and music.
  • Master-slave: Link two machines so they fire together without a console.

Cold spark machines use composite titanium powder made for spark machines.

  • Refills: UKING refill powder is sold in this collection. For grain size, storage and how much to order, see our notes on choosing cold spark powder.
  • Run time: How long a fill lasts depends on the model, the output setting and how often you trigger. Each machine also has a maximum continuous spray time before it needs a short pause. The product manual lists hopper capacity and spray limits for each model.
  • ZQ16050: A cost-effective choice with 800W heating power. It supports DMX512, wireless remote and master-slave control, comes in black or white housing, and suits most weddings and parties.
  • ZQ16030: See the product page for its heating method, protection features and height settings, and compare them with ZQ16050 before you choose.
